About 823,000 in the United States and 41,000 in Canada. (Models UT42120 and UT42120A of this product were previously recalled in February 2013.)
Description
This recall involves Homelite 12 amp electric blower vacuums with model numbers UT42120, UT42120A and UT42121. Model numbers are located on a label on the left side of the red motor housing. The blower vacuums are red and black. “Homelite BlowerVac 2 Speed Powerful 220 MPH” is printed on the side of the motor housing and on the black plastic blower tube.
Incidents/Injuries
Homelite has received 1,369 reports of blower vacuums sparking, arcing, smoking or burning, including one report of minor injury.
Remedy
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled blower vacuums and return them to any Home Depot or Direct Tools Factory Outlet store for a full refund.
Sold at
Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlets stores nationwide and online at www.homedepot.com from January 2010 through March 2015 for about $40.
